Ordesa y Monte Perdido

A journey into the Spanish Pyrenees

Ordesa y Monte Perdido: a wild cathedral of stone and water

Just beyond the French border, deep in the Spanish Pyrenees, lies one of the most breathtaking natural landscapes in Europe.

Around the mountain villages of Broto and Oto, the landscape begins to rise into something almost theatrical: deep valleys, limestone cliffs, waterfalls, ancient forests and the immense silence of the high Pyrenees. This is the gateway to Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, often described as one of the most beautiful natural areas in Spain.

Many mountain lovers compare it with the famous Picos de Europa — and some even say Ordesa leaves a deeper impression. It is a place of grand canyons and quiet paths, where water has carved its way through stone for thousands of years.

From Le Moulin de La Neste, Ordesa y Monte Perdido is around 2.5 to 3 hours by car — making it a wonderful idea for a full day trip, or a memorable stop on a longer journey through the Pyrenees.

Some of the most loved places in the area include Torla-Ordesa, the dramatic Añisclo Canyon, the high summit of Monte Perdido, and the celebrated walk to the Cola de Caballo waterfall. Each offers a different face of the mountains: wild, green, vertical, intimate and immense.

  • For walkers:
spectacular trails through valleys, forests and waterfalls.
  • For photographers:
towering cliffs, changing light and unforgettable mountain views.
  • For nature lovers:
one of Spain’s most treasured national parks.
  • For slow travellers:
a perfect extension to a stay in the Pyrenees.

For guests staying at Le Moulin de La Neste, this is one of those places worth keeping in mind: not around the corner, but close enough to become part of the story. A journey across mountain roads, into Spain, and into a landscape that feels both ancient and alive.

Stay by the river, wander into the mountains

Le Moulin de La Neste is a peaceful base for discovering the French Pyrenees — and, for those who love the road, the wild beauty just beyond the border.

Coaching weeks starting in September

Coaching Week in the South of France

Step out of your daily routine.
Create space in your head.
Reconnect with what truly matters to you.

At the foot of the Pyrenees, at our place Le Moulin de la Neste, we host small-scale coaching weeks for people who feel the need for clarity, direction and a moment to pause.

No fluff, no vague concepts — just a practical and personal week where you take distance from your daily life and look at what really matters.

👉 With both feet on the ground and your hands in the earth.

What to expect

The week is intentionally not packed.
We combine coaching, practical exercises and plenty of space for yourself.

You won’t be in a full-day program, but you will be guided in whatever process you’re going through.

We work with a small group, which creates space for personal attention, calm and real conversations.

The structure of the week

Throughout the week, we offer several coaching moments, alternated with free time and experiential activities.

You can expect:

3 in-depth coaching sessions
2 shorter check-ins or reflection moments
1 experiential activity (such as a walk or working with horses)
the option to book 1-on-1 sessions for extra depth

The coaching is practical and partly inspired by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
It’s not about endless analysis, but about gaining clarity on where you are, what matters to you, and what you want to do differently.

At the same time, this is not a heavy therapy week.
It’s a coaching week: grounded, personal and practical, with space and simplicity.

What do the days look like?

The days have a calm rhythm.
There is structure, but no overloaded schedule.

Morning: coaching or quiet time
Afternoon: free time or an activity
Evening: always free

Afternoons vary — walking, being in nature, working with horses, gardening or simply doing nothing.

Often, it’s in that space where things really start to shift.

Stay & meals

You’ll stay at our place in the South of France, surrounded by nature and quiet.

You can choose:

  • a private room
  • a shared room
  • your own spot with a camper or tent

We provide lunch each day and eat together.
We cook on the first and last evening.
For the other meals, you’re free to cook for yourself and follow your own rhythm.

Who is this for?

This week is for people who feel the need to step back from their daily life.
For those who sense that something needs to change, but don’t yet know how.

For people who are not looking for anything “spiritual” or vague, but are willing to take an honest look at themselves.

You don’t have to be stuck.
Sometimes it’s enough to feel: I don’t want to keep going like this.

What will you gain?

  • More calm and clarity in your mind
  • A clearer sense of what you want
  • Insight into your patterns
  • Concrete steps to move forward

We do ask for your active involvement.
You’ll get out of it what you put into it.

Small-scale & personal

We work with a small group of 6–8 participants.
This keeps it personal, grounded and real.

No mass retreat — just a week with attention, space and depth.

🚴‍♂️ Tour de France – don’t miss it!

    Cycling & mountain culture

The Tour de France in our valley

Once a year, the quiet roads of the Pyrenees transform. What is normally a peaceful mountain landscape becomes the stage of one of the world’s most iconic sporting events. And here, in the heart of the valley, you are right in the middle of it.

    A race through the mountains

The Tour de France is not just a cycling race. It is a moving spectacle — a celebration of endurance, landscape, history and passion. In the Pyrenees, the race reveals its true character, as riders climb long mountain passes and descend through valleys like ours.

Stages in the Tour de France often pass close to Izaux, sometimes within just a few kilometres. On those days, the atmosphere changes completely.

    The legendary climbs nearby

    Col d’Aspin

    • Just minutes from the valley
    • Classic Pyrenean climb
    • Regularly featured in the Tour
    • Accessible for recreational cyclists

    Col du Tourmalet

    • One of the most famous climbs in cycling
    • High altitude mountain pass
    • Challenging, iconic and unforgettable
    • A must-see during the Tour

These climbs are part of cycling history, and both are within easy reach from our location.

What to expect on race day

The day the Tour passes through the valley is unlike any other. Hours before the riders arrive, the roads begin to fill. Campers line the route, spectators gather, and a festive, almost timeless atmosphere takes over.

    The experience

    • Roads closed several hours in advance
    • The publicity caravan passes first
    • A brief but intense moment as riders pass
    • Cheering crowds, flags and music

    Good to know

    • Arrive early for a good viewing spot
    • Bring water, food and sun protection
    • Plan your route back (roads remain closed)
    • Expect a relaxed but busy atmosphere

    Cycle it yourself

Outside of race day, the roads return to their calm rhythm. This is one of the most beautiful regions in France for cycling — whether you are experienced or simply curious.

You can ride the same climbs as the professionals, at your own pace, surrounded by silence, nature and extraordinary views.

    For recreational cyclists

    • Quiet valley roads
    • Short climbs and scenic loops
    • Ideal for e-bikes

    For experienced riders

    • Long mountain ascents
    • Legendary Tour climbs
    • Challenging elevation profiles

A moment that stays with you

Whether you come for the race or simply happen to be here when it passes, the Tour de France leaves an impression. For a brief moment, the world’s greatest race moves through this quiet valley — and then, just as suddenly, it is gone again.

The mountains remain. The silence returns. And the road is yours again.
