The old pilgrim road
Close to Izaux, near Lortet, runs the GR105: an old north-south route through the Aure Valley towards Spain. This way follows ancient lines of passage, linked to Roman routes and later used as a secondary path by pilgrims travelling towards Santiago de Compostela.
It is not a theatrical road. Its beauty is quieter than that. It belongs to the kind of landscape where people have crossed for centuries: shepherds, traders, travellers, pilgrims, and those simply looking for the next valley.
