A Dutch dream by the river in the Pyrenees
We are Patrick and Marlous. Since 2025, we have been living in France, after leaving the Netherlands behind for a quieter life with more space, more nature and a different rhythm.
From the Netherlands to the Neste valley
In the Netherlands, we both had busy working lives. Patrick worked in IT and electrical engineering, while Marlous worked as a social worker, among others with veterans.
For many years, we dreamed of moving abroad. We longed for more peace, more space around us, and a life closer to nature.
So we took the step. We left, searched, doubted, looked again — and eventually found the place that felt right.
An old sawmill by La Neste
We found an old water-driven sawmill from around 1870, situated on the River La Neste at the foot of the Pyrenees.
It was not a finished dream. It was a place with history, character and work to be done. But that was exactly what we were looking for.
A new chapter
After renovation, we are now ready to share this place. Not just as a place to stay, but as a place to slow down.
